Friends of BGO
The aim of the Friends is to provide practical and financial support to BGO. we help fund camps, support travel costs for girls returning to the UK for camps and provide badge and marketing tools to help to promote BGO throughout Girlguiding. We offer a free one year’s membership to all BGO leaders returning to the UK - but please let us know you are coming back!
What's happening
The Friends’ AGM for 2023 took place from 24-26 March at Foxlease. A large group of Friends gathered for the weekend to enjoy Foxlease, the countryside and to meet up with friends, old and new.
Our main speaker was Ella Shaw, a BGO member and Queen’s Guide who enthralled us with her talk about growing up in Singapore where she was a Rainbow, a Brownie, a Guide and a Ranger.
Ella now lives in Scotland and finished her Queen’s Guide requirement. What an adventure, Ella!
Our second speaker was Alistair Brien, a former Headmaster of an all girls school. His ideals, when speaking about his school, closely matched those of Guiding and we discovered he was also a Scout!
After dinner Alistair turned himself into a magician and gave us a very enjoyable evening of fun and laughter.
It was agreed that next year’s AGM will be held at Lorne Northern Ireland.

Meetings and Membership
We have an annual meeting to which all members are invited. We get together somewhere in the UK and every three years we have one in Europe. It’s a great chance to catch up with old friends and make new friendships. We have all at sometime had a connection with British Girlguiding Overseas (formerly BGIFC) and have many memories and adventures to recall. You will also receive newsletters from BGO.

Fundraising
We have a Friends enamel brooch (£5 including UK postage) available here we also send Friends new notelet cards at £2 each.
You can support the Friends by joining the 100 club. For a stake of £10 per year your name is entered into three cash draws.
